Hi Guys ...well I took my car in to the dealer yesterday to have my first oil change and lube job. I asked them to also look at the bumper problem . I told him that 100s of people were having the same problem. He said this was the first he has heard of it.Gee what a surprise. I called about 5 hours later and he said there was nothing he could do about but he said if there were alot of people having the same problem that DC would come up with a fix sooner or later. I alos mentioned the problem with the heater blowing way to hot for the setting , he said he has heard of that one and again DC would come up with a fix sooner or later. So i go get the car and look at the ticket. They didnt change the oil. So I go out in the shop and ask the axxhole why not and he says I didnt ask for an oil change. So I go nuts he tells me to calm down and blames me for not asking for an oil change.Long story short I can never go there again. So now I have to try to get another dealer to work on my car. Im gonna bring it in tomorrow for the oil change and ask again about the trunk rub .Ill let you guys know how it went.Any chance anybody has come up with a real fix for this problem yet???

Do a search on this site for the fix. All you have to do is turn those little rubber stoppers around. There is a picture guided fix on here if you search for it.
My dealer told me the same thing. Then they told me it was normal.

This is happening due to the air forcing down the trunk lid at highway speeds. Reversing the bumpers will stop the force from contacting the lid with the facia. Its more evident on the cars with spoilers, but happens to all. Nice to know our cars are aerodynamic!!!

There is a very active, very detailed topic about this over in the "Problems" forum. Go check it out.
There are a handful of us who have turned the rubber stoppers around but still have the bumper rubbing. I haven't tried the clear rubber spacer fix yet, but I plan on doing that to hold me over til the next dealer visit.

My dealer after me telling them that i could give them a hundred other owners with the same problem moved the bumper down abour 1/8 inch and also stiffened the bumper as it was rattling. Seems ok at the moment

I never have had this problem occur, so it's not a problem for all Chargers. One thing I never do though is slam the trunck lid. I let the trunk lid close by itself using the interior handle on the right side of the lid.

Do you have a spoiler? The running theory is that it is caused in part by the downforce exerted by the spoiler. Slamming has nothing to do with it.

I have the same problem on my Daytona. Its not just the wing pushing down on the trunk lid, its really poor alignment and seating of the rubber stoppers. I have a much smaller gap on the left (trunk back) than the right side. Doing the fixed mentioned here (turning the rubber 180 degrees) works nice, but the paint is still scratched and I've been waiting one week for the dealership to OK the fix. I love Detroit muscle, but I never got this poor service from Toyota! (Hood is sitting lower on one side also).

I don't think it is as much an issue with the spoiler as it is with the bumper cover not being tight. The cover is loose(flexible) and able to move up and down about a 1/4" on mine. I think it is catching air from either under the car or thru the vents in the rear wheel wells and being pushed up into the trunk lid. I noticed the dreaded line after about 600 miles on mine. I looked at the suction cup fix and did it a little different. I took some dense foam (about 5/16" thick and put a small piece between the trunk(body) lip and the top of the bumper in the curve of the trunk opening and also a piece between the top of the bumper cover and the bottom, rear edge of the tail light to keep the cover from riding up. The locations for my foam are the same as the "suction cup fix". This seems to have taken care of the problem for me. I have not turned the trunk lid bumper stops around yet, but don't seem to need to.

Turning the bumpers around won't necessarily fix it--particularly if you have a rear spoiler. I turned mine around and it slowed the problem, but over time I still had the rubs. Best bet is to turn bumpers around and do the rubber suction cup idea that is also found around on the site.
