so what was the problem that you solved?
A number of members on all 7 lx forums have complain'ed ABOUT a small sterring pump whine in the morning till it warms up.
MINE has done it since day one of buying this piece of turd. had a new pump installed at 2000 miles and it did it also.
flushed OUT MY RACK and refilled it. THAN add'ed 2 oz's of BRAINS sterring rack lube and the whine is 100% gone-bye bye-see you later-dont come around here NO more-dont let the door hit you in the a$$ on the way out.:biggrinjester:

hmmm. only issue I have is on cold mornings (sub 30 degrees) the steering is a little stiff for about 2 minutes. Since it takes that long to get out of the neighborhood I havent worried about it

used powersteering additive on my car but really didn't notice a difference except when the steering wheel is fully turned it does seem smother. But i added it to my wife's Jeep Liberty, which is a year older then my car and a whole lot more miles, she noticed after about a day, a definate increase in steering smoothness, and the whine went a way. Definitely worth it for preventative maintenance.

Even though i highly recommend brians products too, it does say this is a normal concern in the owners manual.

Even if it didn't stop the noise in the system it still is good to add it for conditioning of the spool valve seals and the rack seals. Lubricating the centering bushing in the rack really stops the wear too.
Thanks

I have never posted on a blog before due to the fact I felt I could not offer anything of merit. However, I now do by purchasing Bryan's products and using them. I put the Fuel additive in tonight and will be having the Coolant, oil, and transmission fluids in this weekend. I am very new to the blogging and working on the car, so when it gets out of my knowledge I defer to an expert. Also, Bryan thank you for your help and advice.

I took the car to Alternative Motor sports in Oklahoma City where they allowed me to do all the work with there supervision and it was a lot of fun! However, when your new at something you tend to make mistakes and even with the information I did too. What I did was put a little over a Quart of Bryan’s oil in, and Chris who is great, saw the fluid was just sitting on top and not binding and asked if I was putting oil in. I looked and yep I was. So, he got a some device he plugged into the Air Compressor hose and sucked out all the oil. Then we called Bryan again and he made some recommendation that we followed: we pulled the coolant bottle off and saved what we could of the coolant, cleaned it all out, and started back at it and it seemed to work. Chris said to keep an eye on it to see if there is any white stuff floating on top. Well I don’t see white stuff, but I do see black stuff and it also sticks to the side of the bottle. So, what we did was pulled the bottle off and poured the coolant through a coolant funnel with coffee filters in it and cleaned the bottle out. Chris said we might need to do it again since the bottle is the highest spots the black oil will get caught there.

RacerX9,
Great, very good idea, coolant will go through, oil will not. Just keep working with it and you will get it all out. It will not stay in the motor and will end up in the degas bottle. Use Isopropyl alcohol to clean the degas bottle and reinstall periodically until it is all out.
Thanks and keep me informed.

Brian

Also, everything is running good with the oil “coolant” and ACES. The car was very well maintained, and I was not wanting to see great improvement because to me that would suggest that it had not been well maintained. It would essentially tell me the motor was sick.
However, no real big changes in performance, although the gas has improved by about .5 per mile, although this is just the first tank of gas. So, we will see if there is greater improvement after five fill-ups. My goal with the Charger is to keep it until it’s a classic.
So, I will just keep :driving:

I have been very happy with my SRT8. Runs very well, gets decent gasoline mileage even with the power it has, quiet, and put together well. No issues at all.
I do wish though that it didn't have door panels that look and feel like the inside of a Cavalier. Not good on a 45,000 car! My $32,000 300M kills the interior of the SRT8 for softness and quality look and feel.
Thanks

Yea, I know. The one thing I do not like about the new interior though is the dashboard. It reminds me too much of a 300C. I also don't like the shifter console and no cover for the cup holders. Yea I know, being picky.
I really really really like the armrests on the door panels though. The leather vs the rubber/plastic armrests on the 06 are lightyears ahead...different....great.
Thanks

It's been in the 35-50 degree range in the mornings the last few days around here ... the steering no longer has that heavy feel to it that it did last winter :D
The Steering Catalyst works ! :bigthumb:
