I needed an oil change and tire balance and rotation today, and also wanted an alignment (warranty, hopefully) and to have my mud flaps installed, so I decided to go to the dealer.

When I returned to pick the car up I about fell over when they gave me the bill. The oil change was $27 (normally $35 for Hemis because of "special oil", but I had a coupon) which wasn't horrendous, but they actually charged me $62 to rotate and balance the tires! I tried arguing, and asked if it was a one-time charge for the life of the tires like at most places, but no, they explained it was $60 every time I had the tires balanced and rotated.

I guess I know why I've never taken a car to a dealership for normal maintenance before, and why I'll never do it again. My local Goodyear outlet charges me a total of $20 for all of those services.

BTW I wasn't too irate because mud flap installation was a reasonable $57 and they covered my alignment under warranty.

And, if anyone is looking for one, Earnhardt Dodge in Gilbert, Arizona has fourteen (14!) Top Banana Daytonas.

Bending over makes it hurt less... :smoke:

If it makes you feel any better... I paid 100.00 for Mobil1 and a rotation last visit. Rotating tires was no charge he said....thanks I said. A$$hole dealers, or is it the a$$hole consumer? Either way they got ya.

My dealer provides $9.99 oil change for the life of your car if you bought it from him. 1000 miles away before my first change.
