I needed an oil change and tire balance and rotation today, and also wanted an alignment (warranty, hopefully) and to have my mud flaps installed, so I decided to go to the dealer.
When I returned to pick the car up I about fell over when they gave me the bill. The oil change was $27 (normally $35 for Hemis because of "special oil", but I had a coupon) which wasn't horrendous, but they actually charged me $62 to rotate and balance the tires! I tried arguing, and asked if it was a one-time charge for the life of the tires like at most places, but no, they explained it was $60 every time I had the tires balanced and rotated.
I guess I know why I've never taken a car to a dealership for normal maintenance before, and why I'll never do it again. My local Goodyear outlet charges me a total of $20 for all of those services.
BTW I wasn't too irate because mud flap installation was a reasonable $57 and they covered my alignment under warranty.
And, if anyone is looking for one, Earnhardt Dodge in Gilbert, Arizona has fourteen (14!) Top Banana Daytonas.
