yes i know it can be changed .my quetion is can it be altered beyond 190? i was thinking about doing like a runway run or like bonnevile ? i know s/c has a limiter at 250 ,that wont work since i need the gear ratio option?

from what i understand, the charger is aerodynamically limited below 190....

I wish you luck but i too believe aerodynamics and about a 175 top out

I think it's limited but areo design.....check out this thread....gives a bunch of info on the fastest top end...

someone once said it was limited aerodynamically. He seemed like a smart guy

While pondering this for a few minutes i started wondering if air flow over the car might hamper the acceleration factor

i said it first .....so how about you get it up to 174ish....and spray oh say....250 shot??? only gonna gain 1 mph?

Spary in your top gear......tell me how you like that :D

you guys ruined the flow

Spary in your top gear......tell me how you like that :D

thats why i said "YOU" not "I".

so basically if you get up to speed the automobile has far to much wind resistance to accelerate beyond the mid 170's???

pends on the car. but if he sprays in top gear he's at those speeds he's unlikely to notice the normal burst of "fast and furious" nitrous he normally gets and may not even feel like its on .
black 3.5 - go grab 2 sheets of 4 x 8 mdf and hold them vertically parrell with your body, then go run up and down the street as fast as you can. then reach down and pump up your reeboks and try again, let us know how much change there is

 i'm silly

hmm a 200 mph charger .such goals well who has gone the fastest in terms of speed ?

If You put enough ass under the hood and it will go 190. How much it will take I don't know. I don't think there really is such a thing such as areo limmited except in the case of super sonic speeds where the air actully starts to get compressed.
I remember seeing on this forum somewhere a pic of a EVIC speedo dispaying 179.?? as a top speed. I don't remember whose it was.

Goldberg was 179 range....

Once my Diablo gets here and I start my test runs on the Autobahn I should be able to add some info to this topic.

With a 5.7L R/T R&T I want to see if.

A. The Diablo actually adjusts the top current speed of 140mph.

B. Will the rev/tcm changes make a difference.

C. What the Gear - Speed - RPM ratio/limits will be.

D. At what speed will it begin to lose power or max out on RPM.

E. Add the Eibach Pro Street suspension once it finally gets here to see if running closer to the ground helps and less bounce/sway.

F. Add the SLP II exhaust if it ever gets here to see if that assisted if any.

G. Have butt loads of fun doing it.

H. Figure out how to record this so I can maintain 2 hands on the wheel. (No passengers involved)

So some goals I have in the future on this subject.

i like goals they add spice to life lolol.a stock challenger made to 150 at bonnevile on the show top gear.the idea was to get as fast as they could in 1 mile distance.aerodynamics did come into play.they covered the front so no air could enter t eh engine area as well as seal with tape the cracks in the hood so it was all smooth.belive it or not those things added almost 15 mph to the cars top speed .

I saw a show called test drive on the speed channel. This show has Tommy Kendal and Kyle Petty as drivers. They had a stock SRT8 chally on the show and got it to 170 on a dry lake bed. No covered front or duct tape.

oh im not saying the challengers top speed was 150 .the goal was to get it to go 150 within a 1 mile distance .they mayve gotten to 170 but over the course of say 5 miles.you cover a lot of ground at 170 ,at 120 mph you cover a football field a second .it doesnt take long to cover a mile or two.let alone 150 or 170 your covering a football field and a half a second.a mile would take just over 12 seconds.

I think lou on the other forums did 185 in a mile. Don't quote but I'm pretty sure that's accurate.

Really? I thought it was limited by the speed limiter :(

I was going to take mine to the salt flats do hit that ever so common 425 mph.

when they tuned my car they set the limiter at 190 and with the preditor
and a cmr tune on the dyno the computer said i could it 175 top end,,
i got up to 162 before i let off it felt like i could of did 170 + easy :driving:

Someone will find the formula but at 175 + it takes (ex. only 20 hp per 1 mph to increase), type thing.
This topic has been discussed before and lots of good info was posted. i'll have to see if i can find it

wickedchargerrt
04-02-2009, 08:47 PM
Well i cant find it. there was a ton of talk, showing the car would need near 1000 hp tons of aerodynamic work done, including a full cover for the bottom of the car and blah blah blah

hmmm ideas ideas ideas .first i need to see how fast i can go.
