Afermarket sound issue

I had a Pioneer Premier DEH 5000 installed in my '07 SXT at Circuit City (for financial reasons) along with an xtant amp and two dual voice coil 10"s about a year ago. For the last few months I will power the head unit on so the display works fine but occasionally, and I cannot figure out any overt cause or pattern, I will hear sound (whatever song is playing) from the subs but nothing from the speakers. Sometimes I can turn the head unit or the car off and it will work fine. Any ideas?

Is the sound at low volume or high volume? If it is at low volume, it could be that your gain of your amp is to high. Sometime installer turn the gain of the sub amp to high, this will cause the woofer to make noise at low volume. If it is at it is at high volume it could be alot of things. I would that it to a local shop, that has a some years of trouble shooting experence.
