I'm guessing you're talking about the MyGig radio. Physically it's not a big deal. There's a couple Hitachi 2.5" drives that can be used. The real issue is that the drives are partitioned and formatted as QNX drives. You can't just swap out the drive and expect the radio to work; it won't. You'd have to do a bit-level copy from the original to the new drive. Problem with that is you wouldn't have any extra space since the partitions would've been copied identically. Finally you need something that can resize a QNX partition. That's the bit that I haven't seen anyone pull off.

There's some information on http://mofv.com/mygig/

Good luck.

Oh, another option is to look at using UCI/UConnect/MyTunes/WhateverTheHellTheyCallItThisYear to hook up an iPod in the glovebox. I've got an 80G unit sitting in there and never touch the MyGig's drive.

I know this has been discussed for awhile, as people would love to upgrade the 30GB hard drive to a larger drive.

Unfortunately, I don't think anyone has been successful yet!

I tried this over and over and over. I had a QNX live CD and was able to view the contents of the drive, change files if I wanted to, and even clone the original drive. I could view the contents of the cloned drive and could even resize the music partition. However, no matter what I did with that cloned drive, the radio just would not recognize it. I must have reformatted that drive 20 times before I gave up. It could be an issue of only accepting a certain brand of drive, but I don't really understand why Chrysler would do that.

Hopefully you have more success than I did. I tried it with my 2008 RER and couldn't get it to work. I sold that and got the 2009 RER with the iPod integration. Maybe I'll try it with that one. But with my 120GB iPod, I don't have much motivation (except the fact that if the iPod gets close to full, the stereo has trouble reading the iPod's huge database and loses connection).

A user over on the MyGig Information Site (http://mofv.com/mygig/BBS/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=13&start=30&st=0&sk=t&sd=a)says:

My englisch its not very good its liitle bit complicate to say all in englisch

1. Buy IDE 2.5" Hitachi ( 80GB when you going with en larger hdd, the MyGig system end the Gracenotesystem are very slow) only with this HDD going, Maxtor, Western Digital etc.. not Work (HDD Driver)!!!

2. Clone the HDD with en Partitionsprogramm end enlarge the last partition, with en good Programm you can see all partitionen.

3. Try with en Linux - PC

Hmmm, I tried using a Seagate 250GB HDD. So I guess Chrysler did make it to work only with certain drives. I wonder if it would work with a 250GB+ Hitachi drive?

It would definately be something to try!

Not sure why only the Hitachi drives work!

As they mentioned, it will probably be a little slower, but not sure how much slower.

Also, since this does look to be a "successful upgrade", I have started a new thread:

Successful MyGig Hard Drive Upgrade! (http://www.chargerforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=109886)

I have a little more descriptive instructions in there, so once everyone finds out what will/will not work, we can edit the main post!
