Ok so I have an 06 Charger R/T with NAV. NAV worked great for the first year and a half and now im getting the "DVD error-cannot read disc". I have seen people complain about this on this board but nobody can seem to come up with a solution, really dont have 200 bucks to buy a new disc that they wont take back if it doesn't work.
I took it to the dealership and they said the whole unit needs to be replaced and that its 700 bucks and not covered under the warranty I have. So do you think a new disk will fix this like it has for others?? Just want my GPS back, somebody please help, thanks

I have an 06 Daytona and started getting the same message three weeks ago. I'm in Prince Frederick. Which dealer did you go to? I bought from Ralph's but since he sold out I haven't gotten good service there.

I went to the Dodge Dealership in Upper Marlboro on 301, they are about to go out of business also. Nobody can help with a fix to this problem? Should I buy the new DVD and hope that works? I just don't know what I should do at this point.

I'm struggling with the same decesion. I have the extended warranty. I may take it to the dealer on 235 in Lexington Park. If they say it's the DVD and then it's something else at least I wont have to pay the deductible again.

I bought a burned nav disc off ebay for around $20.00 and it plays fine in my unit. Sure a lot cheaper than factory disc. There is also a factory update for the nav system-don't know exactly what it is designed to address, but worth looking into.

Chrysler gave me the old run around and didn't honor their warranty even though the DVD is not listed as a wear item or excluded (in my 2006 version.) I finally caved and bought the update. Now everything's working fine. The experience reminds me of the nightmare that is my Grand Cherokee.

Just borrow someone else's disk and see of it fixes the problem. Most dealers will have an old Nav disk laying around. They are the same from 2000-2007. The old RB1 uses the same disk.
If that fixes it, buy one. If not you need a new head unit.
