Has anyone installed a 2008 aftermarket 2DIN Nav into a 2008 Charger?
The Bezel fits perfect with Install brackets, but the aftermarket radio is bigger than the factory.
Does anyone have ideas how to fit the 2DIN other than cutting away at the IP Plastic Structure?

For the 2008 bezels, im pretty sure youll have to cute the plastic, since I havent seen a "nav bezel" for that year yet....i may be wrong, but i doubt it. Reason being the Mygig nav unit that comes in 2008+ model years is smaller than the REC nav (not to mention the same size as the non nav radios) unit that came in 2005-2007 LX's.

Remove the white plastic bracket that is held in place with four screws. Does the trick. Hold the stereo with one hand while drilling in the screws, though. It will otherwise go in at an angle.

Here's what I have learned about aftermarket 2din for MY2008 Today.
1.) The RES Bezel fits the aftermarket 2Din radio just fine, it needs the side brackets that come with the instal kit.
2.) The Bezel is 2 din in height, but the IP structure about half way in is 1.5DIN. I had to cut the 4 pads in the IP structural plastic to fit a 2DIN radio. (easy to do, only took about 20min.)
3.) Chrysler did a mid-Year Software update to their CAN-Bus and the Metra CHTO-03 needs to be reflashed to work with the change. Without the update, the audio mutes for a second every 10 seconds or so.
4.) My local installer (Mickey Shorr) sold the Metra module to me claiming they us it all the time. When it came to reflashing they said they never use the module and they can't help me. Considering their Poor Customer service Mickey Shorr is definately not getting my car alarm buisness. I don't recommend these guys to instal anything.
5.) Luckily Metra has great tech support and they will update the module by sending it to them, and they turn around in a day and send it back. Here is the address they gave me to send the module to for updates:
Metra Electronics
Tech Support
ATTENTION: Juan
460 Walker St.
Holly Hill, FL 32117
6.) Same installer also sold me the wrong antenna adapter: it should be:
Metra 40EU-10
7.) The MY2008 has a Sirius Tuner built into the radio, so that is where you need to tap into the factory Sirius antenna.
In case others will be installing aftermarket 2DIN radios I will post updates later in the week with progress.

It's the weight of the unit. If you don't support it it will tend to fall. This is because there is no longer the white sleve in there to hold it. With a single din you're fine, double and you not only have to remove the white plastic, but support the unit. Since they are so heavy...the bigger they are, the harder they fall.

I was talking about the size of the hole in the nav bezel

For 2008+ Chargers, there is no "NAV BEZEL"!!!!!!!
Both the standard radio and the MyGig (Nav) use the same bezel!
They should be exactly the same!
For 2006-2007 Chargers, there was a different "nav bezel" than the normal one!
