you wont find a pager without remote start, I dont thinl.
I hate viper. Everyone talks bad about audiovox but I had it in my truck for almost 7 years now with no problems except a fuse blew for my remote start.
My viper, on the other hand, has caused me ALLSORTS of grief, and drains my battery in a week if I let it sit without driving it. Sometimes as little as 4-5 days.
The audiovox took about 3 weeks to drain my battery.
Viper is overrated. IMO. I will never buy another viper.

my audiovox was an excellent alarm. had better range, too. Smaller pager (so harder to damage) and was MUCH older than my viper. Really sad that viper fails so miserably.
Audiovox is also prestige.. same company.

Viper has spent years on the top... but once they got there... they've just kinda coasted... their new 5101, 5501, 5701 and 5901 is mediocre at best. They changed the programming procedures to make them a pain in the ass for us installers, on top of the million harnesses to plug in too, oh that and no RS232 port. What a pain.
All that coasting has allowed the smaller guys to come from behind. Here in Winnipeg, Remote Starter capitol of the world (seems that way) We outsell viper 10:1 in favour of CompuSTAR.
I love my compuSTAR. Range is badass. Better then any viper, clifford, commandstart, you name it brand, out there. But of course, range is subjectible to all sorts of environmental distractions. The only time you'll get 'peak range' is if you're in the Vacuum of space. The remotes are big, but they're quality. I swear by mine. Out of 8 employee vehicles at my shop... all but 1 has a Compustar. Go down to a local shop and see what the installers use. They won't put crap into their personal rides.

I got the Orbit System installed on mine, I'm not sure if this brand is big as all the others or if you can get it down in the U.S., but I'm very happy with it.

There is one step above it but i think it just adds a little to the range, all the other features are the same. I have had it for almost two years and no problems yet...besides neglecting my remote lol but thats my fault...

I cant seem to find one on ebay...they have the top of the line one for $260...I would go to a local shop and see what kind of deal you can get...if your gunna let them do the install they will usually give you a deal on the price.

x2 dont buy an alarm online the installation si where they'll kill you.
They cut you a deal if you buy both at the same place.
Same with wheels and tires... buy them together.. save hundreds.

The difficulty wasnt too bad it just took a while because I didnt use any wiring harnesses or kits besides the factory anti-theft override for remote start so I had to use about 5 extra relays and I had to diode isolate the door triggers and all that fun stuff. And since alot of the wiring in our cars is multiplex I had to use a few resistors to get everything to work. That was my first alarm install so it wasnt the fastest but I learned alot. Total time was about 8 hours from start to driving the car again...if I did it in another car it would prolly be less than half the time with a well hidden brain...oh and I do all my connections the proper way...solder and heat shrink

He's right. The Audiovox (Prestige) alarm is a great option. I had one for about two years and like'd it so much, i pulled it off my old car and had it put on the Charger. Really simple to use, LCD screen, small with good range.:bigthumb:
