Hey there ya'll,

I'm actually over here from the srt4 boards, and imported one of the few SRT4's to Holland last year, as a project together with my brother.
Here's a picture from a couple of weeks ago with the little snow we get in Holland:

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3513/3269324122_8eb4a15bc2_b.jpg

Now i got the hang of importing i want to upgrade my daily neon to a charger :D
But there are some questions since i've never been in a Charger before (apart from just sitting in one @ the last Mopar meeting in Schweinfurt Germany "08)

Obviously i'm looking for a V6, cause gasprices over here are a little more than most of u pay........ but what can i expect from the 3,5? how many km's/miles to the liter/gallon, if u drive like what the car is made for?
(read not too crazy but a small sprint here and there)
Can i compare it with the 3,5L 300C? How much is the weight difference?

Is the 2,7 even worth looking at? and are there any known problem's with the 3,5 V6?

Moreover are there any guys from Holland over here??
I already saw one of you over here with one of the few Daytona's in Holland.
How many of you are over here in Holland Belgium or Germany?

Ok i better quit now cause else i ask far too much in one thread ;)

I believe this guy is from the UK:

And i realy like this guys two tone with the 24's:

And the Charger SRT8 next to cody's, that also dynoed that day:

And last but not least a Yellow Suberbee that was on the 2007 Mopar Meet in bamberg, and from the rear foglight and reverselight it looks
like its owned by a German:

well a 3.5 and r/t get about the same gas milage jus so you know. the 3.5 gets on average like 2mpg better. But it depends on your budget, if you can I would get the r/t for the nicer insides and the hemi.

Yeah after some reading on here the beast in me also tends to spend some more on an RT.......... but realy i will need the 2-3 mpg cause im expecting to be driving this car for more than 20000miles a year.
And if i feel the need for speed, i can always take the srt4 wich is supposed to go over the 300hp mark in a couple of weeks!

Maybe i'll spend some extra cash on a Grip front fascia and some decent wheels ;)

Thanks for the input though!

Kind of off topic but I will be bringing my 06 srt8 charger to germany late spring/early summer and I was wondering how the german plates/tags are mounted on the front bumper. Will I have to drill holes?

Yup most of the guys i know with chargers just drilled holes in their bumpers to mount the plates. And i have seen one guy with a slide rail on the front, so he could fold away the plate under his front bumper.........

But most of them don't care anyway's cause they will sell the car on german soil when they leave for the states again ;)

If its me i would just buy some aluminium strips, bend it so you can mount is somewhere under the car and mount the plate just on the bottom of the frontbumper, like i did with my srt4:

That's good info brother. I plan on selling it before I come back as well and upgrade to a C6 or maybe a C7 vette if they make one, thanks for the reply

@ Dispader, no thanks man! I'm sure the license- plate would not be your worst concern for germany ;)

@ ChargeRonDavinS, thanks alot for ur compliment! i didn't like my neon either when i bought it, but i just simply didn't want to drive a freakin Golf or something thats verry plain here........ so i made it nicer. Just like i did with the SRT, i don't like them stock but it's just verry rare in Holland and with some mods its unique + ultra fast for what were used to over here :D

Oh and i bet you hearded it alot already, but can't too much compliments! Your car is also Tha SEX!!
Whish those headlightcovers would be allowed here and that salt would'nt hurt bags like it does :( cause i really like the bagged Chargers!

@ V Gorilla, "If u aint Dutch........ you aint much" :weed: atleast u have some input! from what i see there's not alot of active overseas Charger owners!

I would go with the R/T. The power from the HEMI is great, and if driven like a human being, delivers decent gas millage. I average 19-20mpg on my commute back and forth to work.

Where in the Netherlands are you?

I actually lived in Badhoevedorp, just outside Amsterdam, for a year back 1997. I was working on the Air Traffic control system at Schiphol. I had a lot of fun there!

At the time I had a 1997 Alfa Romeo 146 with the 1.6 t-spark as a rental, and I never managed to get better than 25mpg in it. It did hit 215kph on the autobahn when I went down to visit Koln though :)

hoi fellow mopar driver, sorry my english, hope you understand what i mean.

1st i want to say your srt4 is killer.

i imported myself a dodge 3.5L to switzerland.
overall i'm happy but i have to say that it isn't a gas saver at all. if i drive normal i have 15 liter /100 kilometer mixed!!! somehow i managed to 11 liter /100 kilometer with changing the driving style and i started to use the cruise control alot.

2nd problem is the parking in the euro city. most parking lots are way too small for the car.

3rd problem: the eco taxs. i don't know how it is in the netherland but i have to pay 700 euro a year and in the near future they'll charge the double

if i had the chance to go back in time to import a car again, id choose the caliber srt4.

a small note to the american user: i paid for my 3.5l probably more than you for the R/T (with all taxs and modification, shipping costs) if i would live in the states with the cheap gas prices and insurance rates, it's clear that i would buy the srt8 over a v6.

as for the problem with the plates check my pic:

@ Bigmech;

I Live in Vuren, a small village near Utrecht.... .Thats just about 40 miles from Badhoevedorp and Schiphol. Good to hear some of you have connections with Holland!
And an Alfa is not that bad..... indeed not the best fuel saver ;)

And its like driftking say's, not just the car and gas that i have to pay for but there is alot of extra tax that's going on top....

For a 3,5 it would be:

around 2000 euro for import tax
around 3000 euro in roadtax once, and around 800 on a yearly base
and another 1000 euro for the first inspection

So thats already 6000 euro without driving a ****ing mile with the car.......
Hence a RT would cost around 8000 euro extra

@ Driftking;

Thanks for the compliment on the srt4 man, you should have see how we got it in Holland (it was in a small accident with the whole front-end messed up)
But your car looks verry sharp too!

They mileage u say is what i'm expecting........ with my 2.0 neon i only get about 11-12,5 liter / 100 km so your 11L / 100km does sound great! + i'm considering to put autogas in it ;)

Lol @ the parking spaces! i can only pay for 1 parking space....... and since their so expensive i'll just use 2 to make up for it :D

Oh and about the tax, i just mentioned what i'm about to pay in taxes.....
can u give me a breakdown on what u had to pay? I'm also curious about what u paid for shipping........

i just say one thing for now, you're one lucky guy that you live in holland (Rotterdam) you can save alot of money by picking up the car at the harbour!

Shipping from the East Coast (NYC) to Rotterdam in a container USD$1100-1500 i absolutly recommend that you add a insurance (3% of the value)
I paid: Shipping from Orlando to Miami: USD$350, Shipping from Miami to Bremerhaven: USD$1400, Shipping from Bremerhaven to Zurich: USD$600, Insurance: USD$250, Custom Tax (Switzerland) 11% of the Cars value.
Modification (Lights (no cornerlights allowed in switzerland) and Exhaust/ Engine meassurment, something like the TÜV : USD$2600
Full Tank of Gas: USD$80 ;-)

PS. the fog and reverslight TÜV mod in germany sucks badass.. that looks ugly and kills the design. Why the hell the Reverse Lights??? The Car have already reverse lights..

Yep i know about the inspection, but we have a Dutch option Thats about 1400$, i do the mods myself and only add the foglight. And thats just temporary cause i will get it off the day after it passed ;)

Did they mod your headlights (apart from the cornerlights) i mean was the aiming of the headlights no problem?

I am lucky with the Rotterdam verry close, but u are lucky that u have only 11% tax where we pay 21% on tax over the cars value!!!
+ we have to pay (bpm) thats some stupid extra road tax that u only have to pay once, it depends on how much the car costed when it was new, and how old it is. With a 2006 V6 that was 26000$ new i have to pay around 3000€..........
So that more than makes up for the fact that i live close to Rotterdam :rolleyes2:

I just bought 2 Chargers R/T with R&T and if your concerned with Gas, I get about 12miles to the gallon city driving, and I don't stomp to much on the gas. Autobahn its pretty good I made it to Frankfurt from Amberg with 1/4 tank of gas left and I was driving 100-140mph.

I stopped off the Autobahn and got gas it was around 100 plus dollars to fill up. No way could I afford that weekly on the german economy.

I wouldn't say it's the salt that hurts the bags more than it's the cold... they dont like the cold. Thank you for the compliments! :D
